The Dry Toast Incident

Post by Toni:

This time yesterday, I didn’t think this challenge was going to be all that hard - although we don’t have much food, we have enough - I was wrong. At around 12am last night, just in from a friend’s house, I decided to have a slice of toast before bed…forgetting all about the lack of butter on the list. For those of you who have never tried dry toast before let me assure you it is grim! But I manned up, folded it in half and took one for the team…let’s just say my mouth was dryer than the Sahara Desert afterwards!

Apart from the dry toast incident (which I will be avoiding like the plague from now on), day one wasn’t too bad. Alejandra and I had homemade chips, hotdogs and fried onion for dinner, despite Alejandra classifying it was the same size as an afternoon snack, it tasted ok! Tonight while most people will be filling up on Sunday roasts, I’ll be chowing down on a banquet of rice, sweet corn and the left over hotdogs! Might throw in a couple tablespoons of the tinned tomatoes for good measure (definitely be stealing Amy’s onion and sugar idea!) Yummy…

Thanks to everyone for all the support so far, can’t believe the response we’re getting!

  1. For my early lunch, I had dry toast with my left over half a tin of tomatoe soup from last nights dinner. It was good, I mean it could have done with a lick of butter but it was something! However now I'm in the library, which is depressing enough on a Sunday but . . noone warned me about the lack of coffee!!!! For the love of God I need my coffee and I'm hungry :(

  2. I know I'm so hungry! My lunch was tiny and I've got to wait till at least 7 for dinner or I'll be hungry again by bedtime. Hope the library isn't too dross.
